Position Context:
A commercial and product management role that has responsibility for managing the Company’s products and services to ensure budget contribution margin is delivered and strategic growth targets are met.
To manage all commercial activities be that defending existing business or developing and implementing an innovative growth focused strategy for the SBU focused on expansion of the Company’s service and product offerings.
Intent/Value
Proactively manage and market the Company’s products and services to achieve or exceed the annual and Business Plan target for contribution margin.
Main tasks :
Product profitability management and steering: Taking responsibility for managing, developing, implementing and executing the strategic plan to support product competitiveness and profitability.
Recommends the nature and scope of present and future products by reviewing product specifications and requirements, appraising new product ideas and/or product or packaging changes.
Understand key raw material sources and factors affecting price & availability.
Attend key supplier meetings with Purchasing colleagues.
Manage the product portfolio including pricing and promotion strategy, make/buy decisions, inventory control and S&OP
Coordinate comprehensive technical support for the products to global customers including product & service-related claim management.
Deliver new business opportunities expanding the customer, product and market base to ensure sustainable long-term growth in line with or exceeding the Business Plan
Identify new technologies to complement existing plant capabilities.
Commercial responsibility for the new project pipeline process and delivery of a timely outcome for customers.
Adhere to the annual Sales Budget and update rolling monthly sales forecast in a timely fashion.
Cultivate a strong business relationship with the Company’s current customers to identify new opportunities to achieve further growth whilst maintaining the current business.
Undertake market research and analysis and produce business plans/recommendations to exploit business development opportunities.
Assess business risks and undertake competitor analysis.
Develop, expand and manage routes to market.
Represent the company externally at networking events/conferences.
Liaise with relevant internal departments to ensure customer needs are met and projects are progressed to customers’ satisfaction.
Analyse and supply data to ensure that all commercial aspects of customer contracts are accurate.
Ensure all contracts are conformed to and are renewed in a timely fashion.
Required skills :
5-10 years commercial experience with a chemistry, chemical engineering, science background ideally in a chemical manufacturing environment
Detailed understanding of contracts and clauses to protect both the company’s and the customer’s position.
Understanding of Seqens’ value proposition and competitive advantage and use this to find suitable good quality new business.
Using technical and plant capability knowledge to be able to initiate and progress project enquiries.
Using detailed information from technical colleagues and customers to further shape project enquiries during development.
Understanding process routes and costs for all major products.
Expert negotiation and influencing skills - both internally and externally.
Credible and confident communication skills (both written and verbal) at all levels.
Detailed understanding of plant scheduling in order to match new opportunities to available capacity on existing or proposed new plants
